The Akashic Records say that civilized nations have a structure and an expression, as well as certain aspects of a psychic life, all of which have been stamped on them by woman.

OUR ACCOUNTANT, Mandy, had maxed out her credit card to the tune of a hundred thousand dollars in order to keep production going; Angie had kicked in sixty thousand, and Bret thirty thousand. They and others were the reason we could shoot. None of the other actors really knew this. I was glad I had agreed to defer. The production people had learned by now to never give a straight answer to any question. That was partially a Spanish custom, like the convoluted road to the Madrid airport’s premium waiting room. To me, everything seemed patently unfair, but I felt like I was being taught a lesson. I just wasn’t sure what lesson.

Bret was packed and ready to leave the production. The word spread quickly that he had bawled out Dominick Hollins and that Michelos wanted him gone.

The taxi drivers wouldn’t work without pay in the scenes scheduled. So we went to green screen and shot on a soundstage. There were several scenes we could get that took place in the backseat of a limo. A smaller crew worked, and the situation gave Andy time to work with Kenny (our screenwriter, now also working for free) on the eighteen pages of new dialogue necessary for Hollins to get us $3.5 million.

Tyne snuck onto the soundstage as well as Michelos. What did that mean?

Jessica and I sat in the hot backseat waiting for Andy’s “action.” Suddenly, my neck lifts gave way. With the heat, the glue melted and my neck fell. I ran to Mariló for makeup and Pablo for hair and sat down so they could repair the damage. The crew hovered, watching the magic of the repaired uplift. I hate hovering, so I gave them a dirty look. They backed away. Having people hovering while others repair a disaster that wastes time is my most despised circumstance in the world. I hate hovering!

Suddenly, I heard people screaming at each other. I saw Andy, Tyne, and Michelos on the other side of the soundstage, engaged in something serious. I asked one of the crew who wasn’t hovering what it was all about. He said, “It’s something about releasing eighteen pages of dialogue to the man with the money.”

Oh my God. They were insisting that Andy guarantee the lines to Dominick Hollins. I heard Andy scream at Tyne, “You changed the male character of Carlos to Carlita and made her a woman and I now have to write eighteen pages for her so we can get the money to finish this thing. You are a liar, a cheat, and a manipulator. Okay, her name is not Carlita, it’s Flavia Cunt Face. How’s that? I can write some dialogue for that.”

Was this the kind of thing that went on in Atlantis? My neck lifts restored, I returned to the backseat. Jessica smiled and said, “Maybe we all lived in Atlantis and this is our karma.
